I can't read an article that I found in the library database

I found an article called "Euthanasia and assisted suicide" in the Academic Search Ultimate database but when I click it, there is no article to read.

Answer

Hi-

It sounds like you are unable to access this article?
Rus, M., & Gastmans, C. (2024). Euthanasia and assisted suicide: Who are the vulnerable? Clinical Ethics, 19(1), 18–25. https://doi-org.ezproxy.ccp.edu/10.1177/14777509231182003

The reason we're unable to access it is because it is not available in "full text".  To explain: a portion of the items in our databases are just citations ...they do not include the full text of the article.  So this article is not available through CCP library.

I strongly recommend when you're searching in any of our databases (or in Summon Search) to choose "the full text filter" when searching.  This usually appears as a box that you can check in the database, labelled "Full Text" or "Full Text Only" or "Content I Can Access".

In the case of the Academic Search Ultimate search, it looks like this.  Please compare the first and second examples:

#1 - Full Text not selected

Here I have not checked the box for Full TextNotice that the article appears, but there are no PDF or HTML symbols below it.  The total number of results is 110.

#2 - Full Text is selected

And now I have checked that Full Text box.  Notice that the article is no longer in the results, and the total number of results has gone down to 45.

So, please be sure to check that Full Text box for this research project.  And let us know if you have any questions!

Best,

-Chris
