Hi-

Sorry that we could not find an article that is about treating patients with impaired urinary elimination who have Ineffective Health Maintenance Behaviors. 

When we're unable to find an article about a specific topic, it is good to try some different search strategies before you consider changing your topic.  Here are two strategies for using Summon Search:

• Strategy #1:  2x terms, 1 search.  Use more general search terms.  "Summon" screenshot below.
  So your search might be:
  • 1) filter = TITLE (if that does not work, try ABSTRACT next)   +    term = urinary
  • 2) filter = TITLE (if that does not work, try ABSTRACT next)   +    term = dementia
    • ^^ Until you find what you need, repeat this search but swap out term #2 ("dementia") with other terms that are "Ineffective Health Maintenance Behaviors".  Maybe you could try a behavior that your patient has?  Or search for others (limited motor skills, cognition issues, depression, or medication nonadherence)

• Strategy #2:  2x terms, 2 separate searches.  Keep your terms pretty specific, but separate them into 2x different searches.  One search is to find articles about "impaired urinary elimination"; the other search is to find ones about "Ineffective Health Maintenance Behaviors".  Combine the articles you find with your own experience w/ your patient to inform your writing.  (**Make sure this approach would fit your assignment!)
  • Search 1) filter = TITLE (if that does not work, try ABSTRACT next)   +    term = "impaired urinary"  <--use quotation marks
    • Alternate term: "urinary impairment" or think of any other synonyms
  • Search 2) filter = TITLE (if that does not work, try ABSTRACT next)   +    term = "Ineffective Health Maintenance Behaviors"
    • Alternate term: "Ineffective Health Maintenance" or think of any other synonyms

>> In any search, remember to choose the "Full Text" box so you exclude results that can't be read.

>> Also, when you find a good article in a database, there may be other good ones nearby.  Look around the article for options like "Suggested Sources" or More Like This" or "Cited By".

For example, one article that I found is:

...and when I choose Suggested Sources then  View All, I get more articles about urinary issues.  Some of these probably cover impaired urinary elimination and may also discuss treatment issues.  Keyword searching within the articles can quickly rule them in or out.
