How do I log in to the library website to do research? Is there a password for the databases?

Answer

Hi-

Whether you are on campus or at home, you must always access the library through MyCCP.

Follow these steps:

  1. First log in to MyCCP. Then: 1) choose "Student Services" from the menu on the left, then 2) choose "Library". Now you should be logged in correctly.
  2. If you cannot login to MyCCP because of password issues, please follow the links on the MyCCP login page for First Time User / Password Retrieval or Reset Password.  Or, get IT help here: https://www.myccp.online/information-technology-services/need-help.

Once you have logged in successfully, if you'd like help getting started, see below(*) for some tips.  Or, just contact us via Ask a Librarian!

( For questions about logging in to the library website to see/renew borrowed books, please see How do I log in to the library website to see my books? )

I hope this is helpful.  If you have other questions, please let us know.

(*) Research Tips

Once you are have logged in, then you can search the library collection in two different ways: 1) You can search via Summon Search, which is the library's meta-search tool. This means that Summon searches all of our 150+ databases all at one time. --OR-- 2) You can search individual databases one at a time. While there are advantages to both methods, I usually recommend going with option #1 and searching with Summon Search.

  • To get started with Summon Search, you can use the search field that's located directly under the Books, Articles and More tab.  (This video will help you get started using Summon: https://bit.ly/2E7bj7f)

-OR-

  • To search individual databases, choose the Databases tab, then A-Z Database List.  Now, choose a database.
