Can I get access to law libraries, or to the Free Library of Philadelphia, as a CCP student?

To Whom It May Concern: With my CCP account, does it give me access to Law Libraries or the Free Library of Philadelphia; and if so, how to I access it.

Answer

Hi.  Thanks for getting in touch with us with your question.

First, I want to be sure that you know that current students and employees of CCP have off-campus access to all of CCP's online databases.  Our collection includes law databases (see here for a list: https://libguides.ccp.edu/az.php?s=115860).  All of these must databases must be accessed via MyCCP, and you can learn more about how to do that here:  https://ccp.libanswers.com/faq/294430.  If you should have any questions about how to access CCP's collection from off-campus, just let me know.

Regarding the Free Library of Philadelphia, a card is "available at no cost to anyone who lives, works, pays taxes, or goes to school in the City of Philadelphia. In addition, anyone who lives in the state of Pennsylvania can obtain a Free Library card without charge."  Getting a card can be done from home as long as you have an internet connection and an email address.  On their website, see the top right corner:

Finally, regarding a law library, unfortunately your CCP affiliation does not get you access to any law library collections.

However, I suggest that you contact Jenkins Law Library at: https://www.jenkinslaw.org/research/help/ask-librarian.  In reviewing their own databases (https://www.jenkinslaw.org/), it appears that some can be accessed by members of the public, but only from on-site at Jenkins Library.  But, a small selection of resources may be available to members of the public.  Again, I recommend that you ask a Jenkins librarian for more information.

I hope this has been helpful.  Please don't hesitate to ask us if you have any more questions.
